Teams - Juniors

13s juniorJuniors

Juniors are aged between 11-16 years. Twelve year olds and upwards play in a league competition. The 11 and 12 year olds compete with teams only located south of the river. The 13 -18 year olds play clubs all over the metropolitan area.
Juniors usually train twice a week for about 1 1/2 hours. Games are played on Sundays.

Grading

Grading players start at 9 years of age and upwards. Players are graded to provide stronger teams, to keep the club as competitive as possible and to enable children to compete at the highest level. Grading players also provides children with a fair and comfortable level to participate at, which greatly reduces the chances of children being 'left out' or even alienated.

Sunday June 24 2007 - Gosnells 12's Div 1 v Fremantle SC

A comfortable win for the Boy’s in Blue

Spurred on by the promise of crisps and coke for a win, the Gosnells U/12’s Div 1 team picked up all three points on Sunday in what could have been their least testing game of the season so far.

However the boys’ in blue didn’t have it their own way for the entire game as Fremantle SC was the first team to threaten the goals. Their efforts were thwarted by the quick reflexes of the Gossie keeper Sam Hickey, parring away a close range effort to safety. This would prove to be Fremantle’s only serious attack on the Gosnells goal for the entire game. This seemed to have triggered awake-up call for Gosnells. Moments later a strong run down the left flank allowed Tre Peters to put the home team ahead with a thunderous strike.

Gosnells dominated the game from that point onwards and were rewarded with a second goal by some great team work. A Michael Ellis cross found Omar Siddidiqi alone in the opposition half where he then unselfishly laid it on to the on running Johno Corness to strike the ball into the back of the net.

Two nil down Fremantle came out in the second half with a little more vigour but were unable to penetrate the Gosnells defence which stood up to every challenge made on them. Tim Coveney’s height and strength for Gosnells easily withstood the aerial threat from Freo.

Chasing the game Freo pushed players forward to salvage some pride when they were caught on the break. A Tony Chandler lung bursting run found him in the opposition’s box to slot home a Gosnells third goal. This was the breaking point for Freo and Gosnells saw the game out comfortably to the final whistle.
